Birthday!!!

Here are few pictures from my birthday! This picture includes my cake and a little bit of the flowers that Mandy gave to me. Notice the sparklers are stars and "24." The word Lynn was made out of icing.

Here is Tony lighting the cake. Moments later disaster struck.

Here is a picture of the smoke-filled party room. You will notice Cassie's husband Chad trying to fan smoke away from the sprinkler system. Mandy and Travis are seated. Dad is in the background and Jennifer is standing in the middle. I am cutting the cake - dad helped me pass it out.

Here is a close up of me embarassed of the smoke filled room.

Special thanks to Cassie for taking pictures!!!!

Snow & Pot Roast

Since we knew it was suppose to snow, I asked Tony if he wanted me to cook a roast over the weekend! So I made it today at his house. My first pot roast! I cooked it for about 5 hours on high. In the crock pot I put a big roast, potatoes, carrots, onions, celery, and water. For flavor I used a can of cream of mushroom soup, a package of onion soup mix, and salt and pepper. I cooked it on high for 5 hours....so we couldn't eat until like 8:30 PM...but it was worth it!! Tony doesn't have school tomorrow - it was canceled! Yay! So we are going to stay up late together, but I'm grading papers while he watches tv.....so it's not really a party.

It was the best meal I've ever made!!! (Kind of sad since all I did was put the ingredients in a pot) I also made homeade gravy from the drippings!!! I'm practically Paula Dean!!!

I was really excited to make it! Tony loved it, which made me feel really good because he usually prefers his own cooking to mine.

Here is an artistic snowy picture of some berries!

Career Process

Friday is going to be job search day in my schedule this semester!!

Here are the jobs that I have already applied for this semester and haven't been rejected. I have so many more to apply for! The company is listed first, then the position. Most of these companies recruit at Tech via the career center. So this is kind of a starting off point. This list doesn't include the jobs I applied for last semester. Not all of them are amazing, but I'm afraid to be choosey because of the economy.

Coca Cola - Sales Rep
BAE Systems - Financial Analyst
Lockheed Martin - Financial Analyst
Cameron - Sales and Marketing
Consolidated Electrical Distributors - Management Trainee
Consolidated Graphics - Leadership Development Program
E&J Gallo Winery - Sales Rep
FDIC - Bank Examiner
Fujitsu - Account Manager
Maxim Healthcare Services - Recruiter
National Oilwell Varco - Leadership Program
North Star Resource Group - Financial Advisor
Republic National - Sales Rep
Wells Fargo Commercial - Real Estate Analyst
Wells Fargo Financial - Credit Analyst

There are so many more to come! I'll update the list whenever I apply for another group!

The office

I'm spending some time in my office today. I'm working just a little bit, but I'm going to use a lot of time to organize all my school work. I have a lot of big projects, so I need to break them down into steps.

Here is my desk. Messy, as you would predict. I have a printer issued by the BA, but it doesn't work....haha. So it just sits on my desk.

This is Cassie's desk. She is here pretty much everyday, but I'm only here when I have classes (MWF) or if I have to go to Dr Rinaldo's class.

We have shelves and filing cabinets too.

There is one other lonely desk by the window. Mandy just found out she isn't going to be a TA. So it might stay empty or we might get someone else.

Dillard Registry (potentially)

Dishes Drama! Here are the red dished I've decided on so far. I like them. They are more plain, but still red so I think I would be able to use them a long time.

The dishes below were the ones that Tony liked that I was originally considering. But now that I look at them again, I don't like the way the texturing looks.

While I was there, I looked at the silverware again. I pulled my china from the shelf to look for some that would go with it. I found this one - it is called Country French. It looks kind of fancy, but still simple. It isn't the real silver (which is like $350 per place setting), just the regular kind. It is $52 per place setting which seems like a lot to me. It is 33% off right now, so I'm going to ask the bridal consultant when I meet with her on Thursday in case it is on sale because it will be discontinued! Ah! I'll let you know what I find out. Dillards is getting ready for inventory so the store is a mess!

Personal Financing

Today I started my work for my personal financing course. Each week we have to read 2 recommended articles and talk about it in an online chat room.

This week's article was really good! I thought that you might find it interesting. It is about money values, or "money personality."

The link to the article is here:
