Gator Fest

This afternoon we visited the Louisiana Gator Fest for a couple hours. It was soooooooo hot. This is an annual festival thrown by St Tamany Parish to raise money and promote tourism within the parish. There were carnival rides, booths with Saints merchandise for sale, live music, a daquari tent, food tent, and live alligators!!!

Here is the big gator in a cage.

This gator is about 4 years old. He was very calm.

This little baby gator was very squirmy. He and his friends had a race every hour. We couldn't see them racing because too many people were crowded around.

Many dishes were served. We ate fried crawfish balls, alligator jambalaya, and potato ribbons. Other dishes included: fried eggplant, fried gator bites, gator sausage on a stick, meat pies, po-boys, fried shrimp, etc.
